Travel to Kendal

We would encourage participants to use public transport to attend our Festival in Kendal.

The nearest railway station to Kendal Brewery Arts is Kendal Station, 0.8 miles from Kendal Brewery Arts.

There’s also another major railway station, Oxenholme, from which taxis and regular buses operate from Oxenholme Railway Station to Kendal town centre and Brewery Arts (approximately 5 minute journey). 

To get times and from England — including cities like London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, York, Lancaster — as well as Scotland and Wales– checkcheck with Trainline route planner for times, fares and details.

The West Coast Main Line, run by Avanti, offers group discounts if 3 or more people are travelling together, and students are able to get significant discounts on trains in the UK with a Student or 16-25 Railcard.

BY TRAIN

Kendal is easily accessible by train from across England, Scotland, and Wales. The town is served by Kendal Railway Station, located on the Lakes Line, the branch line running from Oxenholme to Windermere. Operated by TransPennine Express, Kendal Station has a single platform and is just a short walk from the town centre and Kendal Brewery Arts.

Taxis and regular buses operate from Oxenholme Railway Station to Kendal town centre and Brewery Arts (approximately 5 minute journey).  View a full bus timetable here.

BY BUS

Kendal Bus Station is on Blackhall Road, right in the centre of town behind Westmorland Shopping Centre and the bustling high street. Many routes pass through this bus station, and continue into the Lake District too. Find the timetable for your bus route on the Stagecoach website.

BEY CAR

Brewery Arts is only 10 minutes from junction 36 of the M6 motorway.  Kendal itself also sits on the A6 and A591 roads. There is plenty of pay and display parking in Kendal town centre.

Accommodation in Kendal

There is a wide range of rented accommodations in Kendal including hostels, AirB&B, guest houses, hotels and cottages. Booking direct with the provider via their own website, or the Visit Kendal means the local businesses get more value from your booking!

Travelodge offer two hotels one in the town centre and one situated at Prizet between the M6 motorway and Kendal.

Holiday Cottages offers self-catering cottages in Kendal and other areas across the Lake District.


We are planning to offer affordable beds in shared rooms at our festival hostel from March 5 -9 for attendees who plan to attend the full festival, especially university students looking for cheaper accommodation options in a youth hostel like place. Details will be advertised on this page as they become available.
