Synopsis

The invisible barrier that blocks the emotions between father and daughter is the very thing that leads these two lonely individuals down the path of loss.

Curator’s Note

It's the first time I've seen the Inner Mongolian grasslands photographed in such a barbaric way. The loss of sheep pushed the lives of the herders into great hardship, so within the 4:3 frame, the sky is gray, the ground is cloudy, and there's the only hope in the mother-daughter hut. The cinmatographic design is top notch. (Zhaoyu Zhu)

Director’s bio

Lei Jiawen, after graduated from Beijing Film Academy, he is now currently work as a commercial director. "The Lost OX" is his first short film.

Director’s Note

In the desolate snow mountains, a father-daughter relationship that should have been filled with love instead becomes suffocatingly estranged. This environment and the dynamic between the characters prompt us to contemplate the nature of our solitary lives and how the warmth of love can thaw even the coldest of hearts.
