Travel to Keswick
We would encourage participants to use public transport to attend our Festival.
The nearest railway station to Keswick is Penrith, 17 miles from Keswick
To get times and from London (Euston), Manchester, St Andrews, Lancaster, Liverpool – check with Trainline route planner for times, fares and details.
For travel from Leeds, mainline trains are available, but there is also a famous scenic route via the historic Settle to Carlisle Railway which travels over the Yorkshire Moors and the Ribblehead Viaduct. This would then require a change of trains at Carlisle to get to Penrith.
The West Coast Main Line, run by Avanti, offers group discount if 3 or more people are travelling together, and students are able to get significant discounts on trains in the UK with a Student or 16-25 Railcard
Buses:
The Stagecoach X5 bus between Penrith Train Station and Keswick takes 40 minutes. Mondays to Saturdays the bus departs from Penrith Railway Station for Keswick at 7, 8, 9am and then 20 minutes past the hour between 10.20am and 8.20pm . It returns from Keswick to Penrith Railway station hourly between 6am and 7.20pm, mostly at 15 or 20 minutes past the hour. On Sundays there is only one bus every two hours from Keswick bus station to Penrith railway station: 8.20, 10.20, 12.20, 14.20, 16.20, and 18.20.

We’d like to find out how you are planning to get here for the 1-4 February event, and assess whether or not it would be worth us putting on a coach or two as we did last year (because of train strikes). Thank you for your assistance.
Taxi services
Taxi services are limited between Penrith and Keswick, so do pre-book as early as possible, and to maximise efficiency please let the operator know that you are willing to share with other customers if travelling at a similar time (the taxi companies have 4, 6 and 8-seater vehicles)

There is a wide range of rented accommodations in Keswick including hostels, AirB&B, guest houses and hotels. Booking direct with the provider via their own website, or the Keswick Tourist Association means the local businesses get more value from your booking!
We are seeking special offers for attendees and will advertise these on this page as they emerge.
If you want to secure the cheapest possible accommodation, and are happy to share a dormitory accommodation (2-6 per room), the lovely, recently-refurbished Keswick Youth Hostel Keswick YHA is just five minutes walk from the cinema. It has a simple café/restaurant and also a kitchen where guests can cook their own meals.
